Position for M.Sc. candidate: Pathogenicity of Fusarium spp. on pine seedlings and determining causal agents of post-planting mortality An M.Sc. position is available within the Tree Protection Co-operative Programme (TPCP) at the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI) of the University of Pretoria. The TPCP is an interdisciplinary programme focused on research on pests and pathogens of plantation trees and is considered one of the strongest research programmes in the world working on tree health. MSc and PhD Funding Opportunity: Tree Health (Plant Pathology and Entomology) The TPCP research group in FABI is offering MSc and PhD bursaries to work on forest pathology, entomology and bio-information technological projects. MSc and PhD bursary opportunities in the Plant Health domain   The DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Plant Health Biotechnology (CPHB) at FABI invites applications for two-year MSc and three-year PhD scholarships for full-time study at the University of Pretoria, starting in February 2021. The available projects span a range of disciplines in the biological sciences, including microbiology, entomology, genetics, bioinformatics, botany, genomics, plant pathology, plant breeding, plant production, agricultural extension ecology, biostatistics, biochemistry and chemistry.     South African graduates who intend to do an MSc must hold or be close to completing a BSc Hons degree (or equivalent). Those who intend to do a PhD must hold or be close to completing an MSc degree. In both instances a mark of at least 60% must have been obtained or be expected. Two MSc positions on the use of CRISPR/Cas9 for pest control Two MSc positions are available in the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI) at the University of Pretoria. The candidate should be highly driven and have a background in genetics and molecular biology, ideally with experience in entomology. The candidate will work in a dynamic team as part of FABI, which has extensive experience in the above mentioned research fields.
